One on one spiritual coaching

The command is clear within Scripture - Christ followers are to make disciples. How does that happen? Within Scripture we see disciple-making environments in four different contexts: corporately (large groups), small groups, one-on-one and individuals deepening their personal relationship with God. Historically at Restoration Church we have put a lot of effort into large group (Sunday morning) and small group (Circles) gatherings while encouraging people to have a growing individual relationship with God. What about the one-on-one environment? This is largely overlooked because it can be intimidating. There is the assumption that you need to be able to answer all the questions someone may ask. But what if you didn’t? What if it was less about you having answers and more about knowing the right questions to ask? In a mentoring relationship you would be expected to have all the answers, but we believe that biblical discipleship looks less like mentoring and more like spiritual coaching. This resource is designed to help Christ followers ask the right questions of those that they are discipling and allow God to do the rest!

WHAT DOES THE PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

You get your first resource by signing up for the Follow process.  You will submit contact information and then our church office will pair you with a coach.  Once you approve our selection that coach will set up a meeting with you and if you choose to continue the program you can purchase Learning to Follow Jesus from your coach.

WHAT ARE THE RESOURCES?

There are two resources; both present seven essential biblical qualities of a follower of Jesus. The first resource is intended to be studied individually, and then further unpacked with the help of a spiritual coach, as mentioned above. Learning to Follow Jesus: First Steps is a booklet, an overview, that is designed to be completed first and leads into Learning to Follow Jesus, the full resource. These step-by-step guides will help individuals learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus. The seven qualities are presented using Scripture, personal stories, and questions to help readers apply the concepts to their lives. Resources and assessments for developing the qualities are included, as well as material to help spiritual coaches walk alongside the follower.
